Campuses in Houston, San Antonio and Dallas will add NTI’s core skilled trades curriculum
Las Vegas, Nev. – National Technical Institute (NTI), a state approved trade school with campuses in Las Vegas and Phoenix that specializes in HVAC/R, plumbing and electrical training and certifications, has purchased the Texas School of Continuing Education and Recruitment (TSCER), a certified career and trade school. TSCER’s campuses in Houston, San Antonio and Dallas will remain, while NTI’s certificate programs in HVAC, plumbing and electrical will be added to the curriculum.
With a goal to spread the word about how essential and thriving careers can be found in the trades, as well as help the desperately understaffed trade industries recruit new workers, the acquisition is another step for Chris Roth, CEO and Owner of NTI to fulfill that mission.
“Because of the tremendous shortage of skilled workers, trade careers are in extremely high demand in Texas and across the country. In fact, most of our plumbing students are hired even before they graduate. I want to bring that kind of opportunity to Texas, and since TSCER already has the infrastructure in place, scaling up their existing campuses to teach some of the more labor-intensive trade careers gives us a head start in building an institution that can help people find an essential, lifetime career,” stated Roth.
The Texas School of Continuing Education and Recruitment currently concentrates on career courses geared toward accounting and computer technology, such as Bookkeeping, Financial Accounting, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cloud Security, Medical Record & Health Information, Digital Marketing, Network & System Administration training, and more.
New classes will be added to teach the skills for HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical, where workers are needed en masse. According to the Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, demand for HVAC technicians, plumbers and electricians should continue to grow through 2029, a forecast that has America facing an unprecedented skilled labor shortage. According to the Department of Labor, as of May 2021 the U.S. economy had 9.2 million unfilled jobs, and only 5.9 million people filling those openings.
NTI differs from other trade schools by offering flexible financing options, a comprehensive fast-track training program, and a unique hybrid learning model. Taking only 12 weeks to complete a certification, graduates enter the workforce with high earnings potential as the average salary for HVAC installers and mechanics is $48,730, $56,180 for electricians, and $55,160 for plumbers.
Students graduate with job-ready trade skills, without the massive burden of a 4-year degree debt. “There is always demand for skilled trade professionals, as our contractor partners eagerly and continuously look to new NTI graduates to fill the void,” said NTI’s Chief Operating Officer David Lee.
Currently, TSCER has campuses located in Houston, San Antonio and Dallas. To learn more visit www.tscer.org.
