Las Vegas – Multipure, a trusted leader in the water filtration industry for more than 50 years, is bringing the fight for clean water back with the release of Vendetta for Vitality, the third issue in its free comic book series, “Dewey, the Clean Water Superhero.” This latest adventure highlights a growing real-world battle, choosing water over sugary, artificial, and highly caffeinated drinks.  

In this issue, Vendetta for Vitality, a city faces its most sinister threat yet when the Vigor Vandal drains citizens of their energy, leaving them helpless in the city streets. The villain thrives on a population addicted to energy drinks, processed sludge, and caffeine fixes, feeding off their depleted vitality. As the citizens collapse in exhaustion, Dewey the Hydration Hero emerges to challenge the villain with the truest source of vitality: fresh, clean water. Through an action-packed showdown, Dewey proves that proper hydration is the foundation of genuine energy and health, ultimately defeating the Vigor Vandal and restoring the city’s strength while reminding readers it’s “never too late to hydrate!” 

“Kids have easy access to sports drinks, sodas, and energy drinks, but the best fuel for their bodies is simple: Water,” said Zachary Rice, President of Multipure. “With Dewey, the Clean Water Superhero, we are turning that message into an action-packed adventure, showing kids that real energy starts with proper hydration.” 

Despite the essential role of water in overall health, more than half of children and teenagers in the U.S. are not drinking enough of it, according to multiple studies. Instead, many turn to sugary sports drinks and caffeine-laden energy drinks, which, a growing body of scientific evidence, shows can have negative health consequences. The American Academy of Pediatrics discourages caffeine consumption for children and adolescents. Multipure’s latest comic book aims to encourage healthier choices, using storytelling to make hydration fun and engaging. 

Invitation to Join the Adventure 

To celebrate the launch of Dewey’s newest comic, Multipure has launched an art and essay contest for students in grades K-5 in the Clark County School District. Just as Dewey fights to keep water clean and protect health, CCSD students will have the chance to create Dewey’s next comic book villain by designing a character that threatens water and writing a compelling 50-word explanation of why Dewey must defeat them. The contest offers exciting opportunities for young creators, including cash prizes for both individual students and schools.  

Top entries will be showcased at the Las Vegas Science & Technology Festival’s Giant Expo on Saturday, May 3, 2025, where Multipure will have an interactive booth featuring demonstrations and activities. The winning designs will be displayed at the booth and available as free handouts, as well as featured on Multipure’s social media channels. With prizes ranging from $50 to $150 for students and up to $1,700 for schools, the contest encourages creativity while educating children about the importance of clean water. Students must attend a CCSD school and be in the in grades K-5 to enter and submit through a dedicated online portal by April 4, 2025. Winners will be notified on April 14, 2025.
