First-of-Its-Kind Addiction Recovery Hospital to Open in Southern Nevada

Opening mid-December, Las Vegas Recovery Hospital addresses critical care gap while combining hospital-level medical care for patients with substance use disorders and acute medical conditions

Las Vegas, NV – Southern Nevada’s healthcare system is expanding with the opening of Las Vegas Recovery Hospital, the region’s first specialized acute care hospital designed specifically for patients suffering from both substance use disorders and serious medical conditions. Opening mid-December on the campus of Dignity Health’s Rose de Lima Hospital in Henderson, the 32,000-square-foot facility will address the critical gap between medical treatment and addiction recovery by providing compassionate, stigma-free care for patients who are too medically acute for traditional rehab facilities and too clinically complex for emergency departments to safely discharge.

“When patients in withdrawal or active addiction arrive at emergency rooms with infections, organ dysfunction, or severe medical instability, they often hit a wall,” said Stacey Zierath-Campa, CEO of Las Vegas Recovery Hospital. “Emergency departments can provide initial stabilization, but they are overwhelmed and not typically equipped for the prolonged medical management and integrated addiction treatment these patients need. Meanwhile, traditional rehabs can’t treat patients who require hospital-level medical care, leaving too many people discharged back to the street or boarding in ERs. Las Vegas Recovery Hospital fills that gap by treating both the addiction and the underlying medical crisis in one place.”

Las Vegas Recovery Hospital’s multidisciplinary approach will integrate medical, behavioral, and psychiatric care with peer support, providing a complete continuum of acute stabilization and addiction recovery. The hospital’s team of addiction-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, social workers, and certified recovery specialists will work together to create and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s medical complexity.

“We are pleased to welcome Las Vegas Recovery Hospital to Dignity Health St. Rose Dominican’s Rose de Lima Hospital,” says Katherine Vergos, Dignity Health Las Vegas Market President. “Their presence will expand vital health care services in Southern Nevada, providing much needed specialized care for those with substance abuse disorders. This aligns with our commitment to serving the diverse health needs of our community.”

Focusing on comprehensive medical treatment alongside recovery, Las Vegas Recovery Hospital will provide acute inpatient medical care tailored for conditions commonly seen in addicted or withdrawing patients, including:
Serious infections – Sepsis, endocarditis, IV-drug related abscesses
Respiratory complications – Pneumonia, respiratory failure, COPD exacerbations
Cardiovascular instability – Arrhythmias, hypertensive crises, heart failure
Neurological conditions – Withdrawal-related seizures, delirium tremens
Metabolic crises – Severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, malnutrition
Organ Disease – Hepatitis, cirrhosis, acute renal failure
– And other conditions that require hospital-level care

In addition to supporting patients, Las Vegas Recovery Hospital will serve as a critical partner for local emergency departments, helping improve quality metrics, reduce ER backlog and boarding, lower readmission rates, repeat 911 utilization, street discharges due to lack of appropriate placement, and patient decline caused by receiving care in the wrong setting.
